Artistic collaborations: At the beginning of the 20th century, Kohn collaborated with artists from the Wiener Werkstätte (such as Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser, and Adolf Loos) to create designs in the Vienna Secession style, much like Thonet.

Merger: Eventually, Thonet and J&J Kohn became closer, merging into a single entity in 1922, following economic difficulties after World War I.
